Duel kingdom of Hejaz & Nejd unified under the name of the kingdom Saudi Arabia

The Hijaz (Hejaz),The Holy land of Islam,is a geographical region that comprises most of the western part of modern-day Saudi Arabia and is centered on the two Holiest muslim cities-Mecca(Makkah) and Madinah.

Najd – a central plateau region of the Arabian Peninsula; formerly an independent sultanate until 1932 when it united with Hejaz to form the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. Nejd. Arabia, Arabian Peninsula – a peninsula between the Red Sea and the Persian Gulf; strategically important for its oil resources.

In September 1932, the Kingdom of Hejaz and Nejd joined the Saudi dominions of Al-Hasa and Qatif, creating the unified Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. The Hejaz is the most cosmopolitan region in the Arabian Peninsula. People of Hejaz have the most strongly articulated identity of any regional grouping in Saudi Arabia.

Ibn Saud

The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia was founded in 1932 by Ibn Saud. He united the four regions into a single state through a series of conquests beginning in 1902 with the capture of Riyadh, the ancestral home of his family, the House of Saud.
